Dental Research: Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology

This department of dentistry is a specialty for forming x-ray images of the skull, teeth and nasal areas of the face and the interpretation of the images.¹ X-rays are used to gather the skeletal information of the teeth and jaws.

The x-rays are obtained by radiographs which are in most dentist offices. These images are able to show type of bite a person has, cavities, wisdom teeth, and shows which teeth have crowns.¹
